OMICRON SIGMA CHAPTER OF SIGMA GAMMA RHO SORORITY, INC.

Chapter history

The existence of the Omicron Sigma Chapter is due to the foresight and interest of Leslie P. Taylor, an acting principal who was the first president of the chapter who made the proper contacts. After selecting seven other outstanding young women of the city who could meet the high standards of Sigma, the chapter was initiated by Rubye Peake Watts Hall and became a member of the Sigma family in 1937  The eight charter members were: Leslie Taylor, Ester Brown, Jim Ella Cotton, Evelyn Johnson, Virginia Johnson, Lytia Yarbourgh McKinney, Velia J. Wiggins, and Helen O’Brion.
